Thanks to the Taubman Group, I was invited to the Grand Opening Ceremonies and Gala Event for The Mall at University Town Center in Sarasota, Florida.
Let me first say, after touring this facility and checking out all the amenities, this is definitely one of South Florida’s must see shopping and dining destinations.
When myself and other members of the press arrived at the UTC, we entered the mall through the Cheesecake Factory and there we were provided samples of the food and drinks.
Once we had an opportunity to get a bite to eat, the Chairman President and CEO of Taubman, Robert Taubman filled us in on everything that had and is going on at the location and what we would be previewing that evening. We were then led on a tour through the mall.
The first initial component we were introduced to was the grand center entrance. As we walked in, we were reminded that we live in a tropical environment by palm trees and water effects. It is definitely a sight to see in person.
The interior decor and the lighting effects created by the sky lights makes this a beautiful structure. As the evening went on, it got even more spectacular as the lighting colors changed.
With 3 major anchor luxury retails stores, Macy’s, Dillard’s, and Saks Fifth Avenue, along with fine dining like Cheesecake Factory, Sophies, and Capital Grille, you could truly spend hours just in one area.
I found myself falling behind the group because I was trying to take it all in. However, there was so much more to explore.
There are High End retail stores like Apple, Vera Bradley, Chico’s, and White House/Black Market.
Then are familiar mall locations like Victoria Secret, Express, Champs Sports, and the Gap. FYI, if you have a teen looking to shop here, well the retail possibilities are endless.
Mommy and Me groups are also catered to in this mall. There are shops like Gymboree, Gap Kids, and Claire’s, and even a kids play area.
We actually observed the ribbon cutting for the Lakewood Ranch Medical Center Kids Area that evening. It is absolutely adorable with medical related items all wrapped up in a tropical theme, some even have sound effects.
I must say that there are so many more wonderful stores and restaurants I could mention, but I will encourage you to check out the Mall Directory at mallatutc.com/directory.
When our tour was finished, the media was invited to stay and enjoy the Gala Fundraiser event for local charities. I did this as well as browse the stores with fellow blogger Stefanie from Mommy Musings, and sample gourmet foods and drinks created by local restaurants.
